The interior of the place is quite ambient and almost feels like something out of an old fishing village in Maine. So when they give you good FOOD SERVICE, call it a win and don't cry about "enthusiasm" until perhaps you've been a waitstaff. Often summoning up the energy to smile is tough let alone portraying the often expected enthusiasm of say.a time-share salesman. I would like to say.people, before judging how "enthusiastic" your wait staff is, please keep a few things in mind First of all, it is not in their job description to entertain you and a lot of their attitude depends on the time of day, how many jerks they have served that shift, and when is the last time they sat down. I enjoyed the staff and found them all to be friendly and ready to smile and engage. She was the same one who had greeted us when we came in the front door with a very 'enthusiastic', "Hi welcome to the Lazy Flamingo have a seat anywhere you like and someone will be right with you." The Margarita she poured me was of the standard order and fairly poured. We had decided to sit at the bar so we could enjoy it's interesting characteristics and we were served by our bartender. The french fries on the side looked like nothing special and appeared to be just the pre-frozen variety but, with a steak that good who cares ? They have a very unique, full bar inside and I was on a Margarita kick all weekend. Lovey ordered the steak sandwich on a Hoagie roll and he said that it was perfectly cooked, just tender and well flavored. My only complaint about it, the breading was a tad soggy and was falling off the Calamari rings. It was textured beautifully and had a great flavor. Lovey and I shared the Calamari and that was also super fine. As any good foodie knows, true Caesar dressing (not the pre-packaged stuff) is not supposed to look like tan colored Ranch dressing. (It was so good that ooohhh I want to do a little wiggle dance!) The lettuce was fresh and crisp and the Caesar dressing was also handmade on premises and according to the manager, made with fresh ground anchovies! Don't let the watery appearance fool you. I didn't order the rice and beans but, instead had the Caesar salad. This coleslaw was amazing ! It was done just right and was a great pairing for the fish tacos. The coleslaw was amazing! Normally I don't do coleslaw from restaurants because they use too much mayo or sugar or something. They were stuffed with several pieces of perfectly fried whitefish and some of their handmade pineapple coleslaw. There were two of them and the portion was big enough and almost too much for me. I too had the fish tacos and found them to be marvelous. I recently started reading other people's reviews before writing my own and I must say, I heartily disagree with what I have read about this place. i feel I must preface my reviews from this weekend with the fact I was seeing everything through happy glasses and our experience here was all good. This past weekend Lovey and I traveled to the West Coast of Florida for our anniversary. Hello fellow, traveling foodies ! Hard Annie back again after a brief hiatus.
